Thameside storage Tankers

By derekhansen
I liked the look of the sunlight shining on the tankers.
I had to get rid of a telephone cable that ran diagonally across the middle and also did some dodging and burning in Photoshop

I think the composition works well and these type of scenes are very well suited to a monochromatic style. Find the loss of highlights on the nearest structure and the wall a minor distraction. It also seems a tad soft for me (this is personal taste) but steel and brickwork, especially mono, seem to me to be subjects where sharpening can be exercised with a little less caution. Overall a very fine image.

Nice graphic feel to this image.

Theres some very bright areas that can be recovered in Photoshop, and with some contrast added it can become a mch more graphic image.

Ove loaded two mods.

Both are sharpened, have the tower at the left removed, highlight recovered using the highlight tool in CS3, more contrast using a strong curves adjustment, sharpened, darkened skies.

The second is a filter overlaid with some stroges applied.

Hope you find this useful,

Thanks for the advice stuart and willie. I have gone back to the image and increased the contrast and sharpness. I also increased the highlights on the small tower thingy on the left ( Sorry Willie, I prefer it in the shot )

Definitely looks better now
