wild boar

By Dg
I was on a walk in the forest just the other day and happened to have my camera with me. It was simply amazing, I saw a herd of boar twice, then a funny animal which I later identified as a Martes Martes, it will probably be coming right up tomorrow. I apologize for the low quality of this shot, I used the maximum zoom that my camera allowed (15x) and had no tripod. But I thought I'd post it just to give a hint on how sweet these animals might look, although I must confess I was quite scared when I realized just how close they were...

I don't really like animals - - but these are rather special as I used to know my Astérix by heart. Not being a brave Gaulois myself I would not have faced up to one. But they do taste rather fine Smile

An extraordinary moment. Our daughter was working at a colonie de vacances in the Ardèche years ago, while taking a group of kids out camping one evening she had a family of wild boar turn up and join them at the riverside. Magical but scary!

Although I'm a passionate fan of Astérix too, I have never tasted a "sanglier", they are pretty rare (as meals, I mean) for one who is not a hunter. (Actually, I am a sort of hunter, bu only from behind the camera Smile ...)
Moira, I definitely understand how your daughter felt, I wish I could repeat this experience, if only I were braver Smile

Thank you both very much for dropping by!
