the grand kids are forever dressing up,i think we have more fancy dress than ordinary,in fact me and charlotte are just patching up stuff for Halloween,good fun shots.

This is a good effort and they are in the right location; on a beach, which is where you would expect to see pirates (and on a pirate ship of course). A technique I was taught some time ago is if you take a full length portrait of someone; go in closer for the second shot (maybe just above the knee), then go in even closer for a head and shoulder shot (tight crop). This way you'll have a set of three images (of the same subject) and you can choose which one you like the most. It also makes a good set of images.

Try the technique next time you are out with your camera, it really works.
