I have always favoured taking photos of plants and flowers and the occasional landscape. Portraits , I find extremely difficult but I love this one of my granddaughter as she has the most beautiful eyes. I realise that I have taken this photo too close to her and have cropped part of her head. Any modifications would be gratefully received although I do realise that it will be very difficult to give her more headroom ! Grin
Many thanks, Di

She does have the most amazing eyes which you havve captured very wellSmileSmile

Your choices of of photo subject are exactly the same as mine and portraiture is my weakest of all, I would be pleased with this not only for the image but I would dearly love to have a grandchild but unfortunately no signs of one, love her beautiful eyes.

Dont worry about cropping the tops of heads, - some of the very best portraits are cropped. If you want to get a full head shot, with the composition spot on, as you know you need to move back, and allow room above the head for cropping.

the expression is lovely. The shot is a little cool caused by white balance, and looks better a little warmer, and with a slight colour boost, - as in mod1. Mod2 has a lot more of her head cropped, but IMO its a much better portrait, placing her eys on a third, - more intimate.

Hope this is helpful,

Thank you so much for all your comments and Willie thank you for the mods. I just love the first one especially and can see exactly where I have gone wrong..my version lacks the depth of colour that you have given Sennen..it makes all the difference. I also see what you mean about the second mod and the positioning of the eyes. within the frame. Many thanks again .

What an angel!!! Awww...prettier than any flower for sure. Not just beautiful eyes but look at the soft pink on her cheeks and tip of her nose!

By the way, in my opinion, the top of her head not in the picture is not important. Portraiture can be anything, that's the beauty of it. And to me, this is beautiful portraiture. Well done Smile

In your previous upload you mentioned your PH. I Googled it to learn more. You know what? The prognosis doesn't seem bad with modern medicine! I'm so glad you've come back here and that you're taking pics again. Should be therapeutic, I reckon.

Thank you so much and it is lovely to hear from you again ! She is beautiful and looks as though butter wouldn't melt but she is such a pickle and VERY clever !

I know modern medicine has made the prognosis much better , thank goodness. I sometimes get a bit fed up when I can't breath too well as it is quite scary and also painful but there are plenty much worse off than me so I just take each day as it comes and keep on taking the tablets ! Grin

Please keep in touch and thank you for the welcome back ..it means alot !

Thank you Barbara. She is very photogenic but won't stay still for a moment. She was watching her brother just for a few seconds..this is really just a quick snap !

Awwww, I missed this - you're back! Nice to see you here again Diana! This is a wonderful child portrait, she's so very beautiful, those eyes are little marvelles, which you captured beautifully.
