Many, much appreciated thanks for all views, votes and encouraging comments on my 'Nice Facilities' upload.Smile

And, special thanks to Patty(pentaxpatty), Dave(mistere) and Isabel(Chinga) for their coveted user Awards!SmileSmileSmile

Today's images were taken this morning at Windmill End Junction, Rowley Regis in The Black Country.

V1 was taken whilst standing on Boshboil Arm Bridge - what a wonderful name - looking towards Cobb's Engine House in the distance.

V2 shows Cobb's Engine House; it is a scheduled ancient monument and Grade 2 listed building built around 1831.

It housed a stationary steam pump used to pump water firstly from Windmill End Colliery and later other mines in the area.

Utilizing a shaft 525 feet deep, 1,600,000 litres of water were pumped from the mines into the canal daily.

It ceased work in 1928 and the Newcomen type engine was moved to the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan in 1930.

Great historic narrative to go with 2 super images
V1 Well composed group of bridges
V2 Grade 2 listed building meant that the brick structure has seen much renovation
2 Feb 2015 9:59PM
Great use of shapes colours and materials or (textures which ever you prefer) thought the four bridges was good but on further thought I found the two brick structures more appealing, shapes are great, well done Richard.

V1 is very impressive, Richard. You chose a perfect spot for this extraordinary composition, making the most of those shapes, patterns and lines, showing the waterway nicely and of course leading the eye to your subject, the engine house. Interesting narrative to go with the images, too.
