Coughton Court

By DicksPics
Today's images were taken at Coughton Court, a National Trust property in Warwickshire.

It was/is home to the Throckmorton family and played a not insignificant part in The Gunpowder Plot.

V2, V3 and V4 were taken from the roof of the central Gate Tower.

The last two versions give some information about the flight and demise of the Gunpowder Plotters, many of whom came to a sticky end at Holbeach House which is less than two miles from where I live. It is now a care home for the elderly, its name now spelt 'Holbeche'.

One of the housing estates in Kingswinford overlooks Holbeche House and many of its roads are named after the Plotters. In fact, a new housing development will be called 'Catesby View'.

Many thanks for all votes and comments on my 'The Saloon at Coleton Fishacre' upload and, especially, to Graham(digital_boi), Len1950, Tom(Tooma), Graham(Ericsamson), Jeff(kojack), Prabhas and Steve(Stephen_B) for their awards - much apporeciated, as always.

I hope your weekend is going well.

What a magnificent building, and a fine set of images of it from the different viewpoints, Richard 👍 I rather like the first version as my fave 😀 I wonder if the country would be in the sh*t it's in now if the Plotters had succeeded?! 😁
