Death of a lady

By Digic51
On the old coast road near the port of Muelle de Los Mármoles in Lanzarote lies the wreck of the the Telamon, a renamed cargo ship originally built in London 1954.
The Telamon was on route from Africa to Greece with a cargo of logs when she sprung a fatal leak and was forced to run aground near Arrecife, Lanzarote on the 31st October 1981.
Only one company was initially interested in salvaging her but the did not go ahead due the expense coupled with the poor overall condition of the ship.
Being so close to the shore, the ship had early on been inhabited by squatters but as it wasn’t safe conditions they moved to more suitable housing.
Time has changed her and split her into two halves; she has been left as something of an unusual attraction for tourists like me to photograph and enquire after and the brave to dive on.
You cant see it from this shot but she has slotted in between the seawater purification plant and Port so as not to block the Port.
