The wooden electric ground floor trains were built from 1926 to 1950 at the company's factory in Piraeus, and were launched on the Piraeus-Kifissia route until the mid-1980s, alongside the modern trains.
When they withdrew, many wagons were placed in various public places for use as playgrounds or even as offices of non-governmental organizations. Others were placed at national railway stations as exhibits. The Piraeus railway station has not been in operation for many years, the wooden wagons that were there have been abandoned to their fate, have suffered significant damage and are being used as a home by the homeless.
Here a reconstructed wooden electric train.

Attractive even now - glad they can be used for the homeless.
There are many people who would love one of these done up to live in
or for a holiday home.

That was my first thought before reading, a place for the homeless. Wonderful they can be useful as well as a part of history.

This is probably more beautiful, Dimitris, in its decay than it way new.

Beautiful photo.
