Day 140: Sprotbrough Weir

12 Jan 2012 11:00PM   Views : 775 Unique : 501

Sprotbroughís a very small village between Consibrough and Doncaster, but itís one I thought had a lot of photographic potential when I drove through a few weeks ago looking for the nearby wind farm. There are two water channels running side by side, with very different characters, and at this time of year the sun sets almost at the directly upstream (search for the Photographerís Ephemeris if you havenít seen it already Ė very handy for planning a landscape session). Todayís was rather lovely, and I got a few shots I was quite happy with. It felt good to get out with the tripod for a proper shoot today, and Iím so confident in the Tamronís abilities now that I didnít even bother taking the fast lens with me.

This was done with a bit of sensor dodging, so no filters used. As such, Iíve had no issues with softening of the image, or chromatic abberation, and can use the raw resolution of the lens.

Nikon D300; Tamron 18-270mm PZD @ 30mm; ISO 200; F/11; 30s. VC off.
