the rug looks groomed, or is it that I normally see Jura soaked from head to paw?

good angle Jeanie, and the expression is ace...

What an adorable looking dog, love those big eyes, the depth of field is perfect fo this. The tilt of the head and open mouth is so charming. There is not alot in my opinion to change about this, BUT Smile...there's always a but....People see things with different eyes so for me I feel that you could lose some of the dead space to the left of the picture and Jura does blend a little into the floor colour. I have done a couple of mods, but please remember my own personal tastes will not be the same as everyone elses Smile
p.s sorry for mod 2...I got carried away SmileSmileSmileSmile

Cheers Ian... Don't mind "but's".. thats what this is all about..

....if anybody sees the second mod and decides its time for xmas pics to go up - I am sending the rug round to chew your leg... LOL!!!

That's a great grin!
I love the angle and expression you've caught. The only thing I'd maybe change would be the background, perhaps gravel or grass would work better? I find the lines a little distracting.

I've always had a soft spot for beardies, they're so expressionate with those sparkly eyes.
A lovely dog.

I like the gravel background, brings out his eyes! Wink.....even though he's stopped smiling and seems to be glaring....he obviously thinks he's now supermodel material and deserves better treatment.

Critique Buddy!
First off, thanks for the critique and tips on Val. This is clearly a specialist area of yours, I should have read the articles you linked first Smile Look out for more (hopefully better!).

Jura is so full of character that every picture you take of him really stands out. Out of the three I think my favourite is V3 on the gravel, even without the smile you just want to hug him and I know I couldn't resist. I prefer the tighter crop of V3 without the close up of V2, although the definition on the fur really brings out his ruggyness.

He looks like a lot of fun to have around, thanks for the photos.

Thanks Chris, Jo, Rob and Jouko.

Thank you for the crit Rob.. not a specialist area but he is usually fairly good when it comes to posing. I like the gravel too, and did think of going on there yesterday morning... but thought I would get comments from gardeners about weeding hehe....I will listen to first instinct next time. Smile

D'you reckon they know that it's important to pose properly? When I have the camera trained on mine he just sits very still and looks his best, unless of couse he's chasing something. This is a beautiful dog!

Three good shots.

For me it is v2, as soon as the image appears it hits you. The expression and reflection in the eyes is good. If I have to find a negative it would be the very, very slightly blown out highlights, that could be my screen rather than your image.

Jeanie you have one of the cutest doggies I have ever seen. I particularly like version 3 and feel the gravel really lifts your doggy away from the background. No distracting features to make your eye wander. Smile

love this shot, and spot on with the description re: model being a diva, they are all the same when the camera comes out, whats in it for me sort of thing, my cats are the same, refuse to open their eyes for the picture unless you can strike up a deal with them !! LOL

Nice one

Getting to this a bit late, but never mind, I'm here now Smile
Actually, it's not going to be much of a critique. The depth of field is perfect, and I know your dog well enough to say that it's a characteristic expression! I've done a slight crop to tie in with the diagonals in the background, but that's all I'd change.
