I don't on my other lenses as I think the hood offers enough protection for my needs but I do have a Nikon NC filter on my Nikon 105mm Micro lens as I sometimes find the hood restricts light in some shooting styles so in that case the NC filter offers that extra level of protection for me.

I don't know if it's worth a try but I have got a few 1 year subscriptions of RescuePro Deluxe that came with my SanDisk Extreme Pro SD cards.

If you are interested drop me a PM and I will pass on the serial number, don't see why they shouldn't still be active?

I would much prefer more show's like Blue Planet to be on our TV's rather than these celebrity reality show's that seem to be ever increasing in popularity! Anyhow back to business, thanks to you all for your participation in this week challenge and after reviewing the entries it was going to be a two horse race but in the dying minutes EddieAC dropped in his spectacular specimen of Haematite! the textures and colours are spot on so I am pleased to say well done and its over to you Eddie for this week challenge.

In this weeks challenge I would like to see precious gems or minerals which should hopefully show some good reflections, refractions, colours and textures, so dig out your diamonds, rubies, sapphires, quartz etc and let them shine.

All specimens used will need to be forwarded on to me for adjudication and clarification purposes. Unfortunately entries cannot be returned Wink

Good luck to all and I look forward to your entries.

    Usual Rules Apply:

    1. The challenge is just for fun.
    2. All images must be taken after the theme is announced.
    3. The challenge runs from 8pm on the Sunday and runs until 8pm the following Sunday.
    4. Only one upload per member.
    5. Please feel free to comment on the entries once judging is complete.
    6. The person who hosts is the judge for that week challenge and the judges decision is final.
    7. The winner gets to create, run and judge the challenge for the following week.
    8. Have fun

Thank you all so much for your entries and you certainly didn't make it easy for my first outing as master of ceremonies! After much deliberation, broken leads and chewed ends I will get straight to the point and I would like pass on the torch of responsibility to sjr for the nostalgia you raised and i'm impressed your still in possession of a cassette to stage it. There was three I kept getting drawn to Wink then two but decided to settle on this one so well done Simon!

Thanks everyone and I look forward to the next challenge.

That's all folks your time is up! Is it me or do these weeks seem to melt into one? I will retire to my quarters with a quick snifter, watch Blue Planet ll (I need this time to recover as my wife has tortured me for the past hour with strictly come dancing) and I'll be back shortly after that to reveal my findings! Thanks for being awarded the honourable task to run this weeks challenge.

This is my second week in the group so as I only purchased my Macro lens two weeks ago I will go with the first thing I photographed with it which was a Pencil, don't ask me why I think it was the first thing that came to hand after unboxing the lens and I was keen to use it!

So anything goes that incorporates the humble Pencil. Get creative and I look forward to your entries.

    The Rules are:

    1. The challenge is just for fun.
    2. All images must be taken after the theme is announced.
    3. The challenge runs from 8pm on the Sunday (or the time from which the challenge is posted) and runs until 8pm the following Sunday.
    4. Only one upload per member.
    5. Please feel free to comment on the entries once judging is complete.
    6. The person who hosts is the judge for that week challenge and the judges decision is final.
    7. The winner gets to create, run and judge the challenge for the following week.
    8. And last but not least have fun.

  • Commented on 'Replacing a face from one pic to another'

    Hi Ju,

Once you have the replacement on top of the original, lower the opacity so you can see the face below showing through as it makes it easier to line up the facial features then depending on your operating system press control+t or command+t then when the bounding box shows you can scale the face to size and right click within the selection and you can choose to skew, warp etc if needed. Then add a mask to the layer to blend the two layers.

    Hope that helps
