Agree with the above comments, the straight on shot and direct lighting means you lose some of the 'depth' of the box. Maybe moving to the right slightly would have given you a little more perspective. Very good idea though, like it a lot.

  • B&W Surfer by Ricky34

It's a great capture, but for me there isn't enough contrast, the overall effect is quite dark (at least on this PC). For instance, the white wash seems grey to me. I'm not sure the border works either as the black dominates everything else - although maybe this is because the whites aren't white, if that makes sense.

Nice one Alex, I think you've made a good decision joining EPZ, there's tonnes of help on this site. Absorb anything useful, ignore everything else. Good luck!

Nice energy, hope you don't mind me saying this but maybe it would benefit from tweaking the horizon in PS, at present it seems to be sloping to the left.

  • Flowers by Damir

I think the flowers have a real nice quality to them, and would make for a good abstract picture. I do find the broad leaf in the background distracting, maybe a tighter crop would help or some motion blur just to knock it out of focus?

  • Dip? by Kim Walton

Love the lines and composition, I just feel it could do with a little more 'punch'.

I think it's a great capture...maybe the eyes could be brighter/sharper? Great comp and lighting.

I like this a lot, simple photojournalism. Shae Alf is obscured by the table, but it still has a certain charm. Click

Great capture, when I do self portraits I tend to keep the remote out of frame but I like it's inclusion here. Nice shot, I like it a lot!

I tend to agree John, the first thing I thought was how nice this would look as a cropped portrait.

  • Rock's by penzance

I posted up an edited version as I thought the colours looked slightly flat - then I viewed your larger version and the colour is spot on. Love it

    Click

EDIT: Not sure if I made that clear, what I'm trying to say is that when I viewed your large version the colours appeared much richer and negated my attempts LOL Nice one
