Storm Dahlias.

By DolphinLady
We knew the storm was coming, so my husband went out & cut most of the dahlias & brought them inside for me to put them into vases to save them from getting battered.....I had to take photos of these two as they are about the size of footballs, I couldn't even get them into the same vase.
I hope you like them....I took them against black velvet, with a tad of contrast & unsharp mask.
V2 I turned towards the window which I think worked well...

The storm did come to us & by heck did it thunder & lighten & rain for almost three hours solid...

Thank you for your votes & comments on my last upload.

Hope you are all having a good weekend.

If blooms that size got water loaded the stems would surely break so just aa well they were rescued before the weather settled in. Two very fine captures and presentations of these beautiful dahlias, Hilary: with the black b/g they appear to stand out from the screen as if in 3D.
Very well done.

I hate those kind of rainstorms Sad I've never had it go on for 3 hours, though! Brilliant idea snipping the flowers and vasing them instead of them being obliterated Smile

Can't believe how big these are...must be amazing to have 'em right before you, Hilary.

BEAUTIFUL captures of them you've done, especially the one in V1. The lighting there has brought such amazing detail and relief!
