Hi Steve, welcome to EPZ and the Critique Gallery Smile, i bet this must have looked spectacular when you were there Smile. While the exposure seems to have come out well, i think point of view used to take this could have been improved, it may be just my eyes but the image doesnt look to sharp / focused to me (camera shake ?) To have good foreground interest the subject needs to have more impact and visibility as compared to this shot, maybe if you were to change your position a bit a lower POV ? I also think some attention to the edges of the frame would help here, for example you have cut off elements towards the RHS of the image which could be avoided, looking at the boats on the RHS and using them for foreground interest would be another idea for a different position to take this.

Cheers and hope this helps

A decent effort, but the pier needs to lead into the image, not across it. You could also do to darken the sky a little, either by selection or with the burning in tool.

Many first class landscapes suffer from lighting problems, and this is a bright sunny day. Good for a record, but something a bit more dramatic would make a better picture. Storm clouds, sunset, sunrise etc.

Hi guys, many thanks for the tips.
I have taken your advice on board and will remember to consider rule of thirds, composition, point of view, etc. next time, with similar scenes. Unfortunately, as much as I would like to have another go at this shot, armed with this info, I was on holiday at the time.
The critique gallery is really helpful, thanks again. The EPZ site is brilliant.
Cheers.
Steve
