Funny you should mention that. Another time I was shooting in this location, a tree-stump and a shadow conspired to look just like a black bear and scared the living daylights out of me, even though I'm fully aware that (a) there are no black bears in Guiseley; and (b) black bears are very rarely aggressive anyway. Like it a lot Dave. The framing is perfect and the exposure is timed to show enough movement but without inducing the old milky water effect.

My first thought when I saw the thumb, was that there was a large bear paw emerging!
I do like that pencil sketch effect, and also that warm glow in the center.

A bear's claw indeed and the pencil effect is very effective, albeit not planned.

Thank you David for your advice on my 'Story Time' which has since been removed and all copies burnt and buried! It's not that often people point out the bad things in your own work and it's a good thing, that's how you learn.
Much thanks too for your positive comment on my replacement 'Bless You'.
Better stop now or it'll be chapter 2!

This is quite amazing David, it really does look like a bear's claw and the water looks like fur. I have just had my first attempt at a long exposure shot on water and will hopefully upload one later. This is a refreshing change to the usual blurred water images and I like how you have filled the frame with it.

Thanks, Steve — and everyone else. I find it fascinating that people see so many things in this photo, almost like seeing things in the shapes of clouds. Smile I didn't see all those things because the image is closely associated with my memory of standing by the stream. But it does indeed resemble all of the things that people have mentioned.
