The Hip Hop Man

By ducatirider
This is Rahin and he's a local Hip Hop artist. He stopped me yesterday in the street and asked if I could take some photos for an album cover he wants to release; me seeing an opportunity to photograph a street personality gladly obliged.

As we departed he asked me, because I am English if I knew Paul McCartney and if so could I put in a good word for him. Something tells me he's not a very successful Hip Hop artist. Here's his website if you are interested: link It's actually quite a professionally made website but, can anyone though, please try and explain what and why we have Hip Hop.

lol! Thats a great story. Good image too! His site looks pretty impressive, but clearly has no idea about music as we know it today....lol! Love the pose and the angle of this, good image

As for Hip Hop, there is some thats very, very good, but the pap that around today is just useless rubbish. Old school stuff, such as Public Enemy, NWA, Ice T, etc etc had something to say, had a meaning and spoke of a generation. It was used as a medium for broadcasting a messege, so being able to talk about the situations that kids and races found themselves, without having to have a singing voice. It was "street", it was voice, it could be done on a budget, it touched people. I can see the point of is. I am not a fan of Hip Hop as such, but I can appreciate what it stood for back in the 80's and early 90's. But the stuff nowadays, its just vaccuous and empty....and musically challenged too! Useless and the really cutting edge stuff has been done, the message is now lost....

Sorry, that got a bit deep! lol!
very nice image wide angle shot, well done!

Thanks Johnnyboy114 for taking the time, that's a great explanation. I'm not a fan, but my youngest was and all I heard was violence and how the world owes them something. Having said that, the group MadCon I can listen to, if that's hip hop.

Great story and V1 is a real great shot in the colour, brings it out so well, like how he just stopped you for the shots for him...and a certainty that you 'must know' Sir Paul...don't we all?
hip hop...No way!

Like them both but the mono just has the edge for me. Hip-hop - no idea, I'm more a blues/rock/folk devotee (probably a sign of old age!)
