Chooz

By dudler
Many thanks to lifesnapper for leading me to this shop in Rochester...

My approach to shoes is that they should be comfortable and durable. It's not very rock'n'roll, but it gets the camera bags shifted around satisfactorily. Whereas these... Are for people giving a constant performance. You pick your lifestyle, then you chooz your chooz. (Did you see what I did there?)

Should you wish to photograph shoes like this in the privacy of your own home, you may find today's blog helpful for ideas of how to light them without professional lampage. Maybe, even, with the aid of IKEA...

Years ago I found a style from Clarks that was actually foot-shaped, which most shoes aren't. I'm currently onto my fifth pair...

For many years, I found that either Church's handmade leather shoes (preferably assembled on Last 56) or 15 Polish sandals worked nicely.

For the last few years, since the Polish ones seem to be unavailable any more, I've been wearing Ecco walking sandals, which are rather lovely, wear well (most moulded soles split when I walk on them). Even in wet weather, they allow my feet (and socks) to dray off rapidly. Short of snow, they do the business. Mrs D accuses me of using orthopaedic footwear. Is that a bad thing?

Shoes to look at but not for wearing - how many times have we injured our feet
trying to keep up with fashion! Sadly I'm at the comfort first stage!

Seems apt that I should make this one 30, John.Smile

In some cases of course, it depends on who's wearing them as to how good the shoes look.
I'm guessing that bedroom slippers are very widely worn at this time. But, not quite as photogenic as the shoes in this image. Smile
A return visit for a sneaky shot or two inside the shop may be on the cards.Wink (Or a more accommodating shop assistant.)

The more snazzy the shoe the more expensive. Bought a pair of shoes made to measure in Cyprus. They were a joy to wear until they gave up through old age!

Sass makes some comfy ones too. I also have some ecco's. Comfort is the most important these days.
I can't even photograph my high heel shoes as I gave them all away. These have made quite the flashy image, I wonder if they have purses to match?

Red wings for work shoes.
