11 o'clock on this day always makes me sad...nuff said.
Well timed today.

A stark image. There is nothing glorious about war, not that I would know as I have been so fortunate never to have been involved in one. For that I am so grateful and to those who were killed or injured I give thanks and respect.

Yes, Phil says it very well. We are very fortunate today due to their bravery.

Sadly John, you're right - war hasn't ended - will it ever.

"How should we remember the dead and the wounded? How should we honour them?"
Try to make sure it never happens again. If humanity's appetite for self destruction can be
controlled, who knows, it could happen. Or if someone eventually finds a cure for 'Stupid'.

I believe the act of not forgetting and honouring was meant to be done by not repeating the slaughter.

As we all know, that was a wish that never happened, so in one important way, we did forget, and we didnt honour. All we can do is remember their sacrifice.

John, my Grandfather was at the Somme. I was too young to talk to him about it but I always remember that there was a great sadness about him. It was as though he was always reflecting on something awful. It was !
Oh yes, a really lovely photo. I love the raw quality about it. So appropriate.

I always find that "Lest We Forget" sums it up quite well. A time for reflection for us all.

Brilliant composition. The light at the end of the passage suggesting their sacrifice for a brighter future.

As a species, we seem to make of the uglier parts of our nature. And we do not seem to learn.

I like this image John. An effective composition. For me you have brought together the past and present with the lone wreath and the people with the large brollies. Your processing choice works well too I think.
