Remind me - is it Film Friday?

By dudler
Carly on film, pretty as a picture (no, hang on. She's IN a picture...)

Much of the world will be celebrating VE Day today: 75 years since Hitler's Nazi regime fell. So it's a time to celebrate the freedoms we have (even in places where it's under threat again), and to rejoice in the achievement of common goals. And, most of all, a time to look forward to the world that we can make better, as our parents and grandparents made it better for us.

I'm thinking in particular of two of my EPZ friends (they'll know who they are) who are nationals of countries some English people have not always seen as allies. Our friendship and our common humanity are part of what convince me that a better world is possible if we think of a bigger 'us' rather than 'us' and them'.

Serious bit over: now please read my blog on a way that all of us can make the most of the controls on our cameras.

My opinion entirely. Thanks for expressing it soberly and clearly.

I like the expression here, John. A very nice portrait and the bra adds nicely to the feel of the image.

Lovely portrait - perhaps she's thinking, " Come on John, get with it I want to get home for tea and buns." And, she's beautiful on and in film. GrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

A lovely feminine girl with what I call round/soft features.
Yes if only we can learn about saving our world for our children/grandchildren!

It's good to remember VE Day for the right reasons. However all is not well. See Simon Reeves journeys on the Mediterranean available on BBC I player, especially Libya, and the tremendous sufferings there are in Syria and Yemen just to name two. David

People are people. It's a better world when they work together and get along.
If history has taught us anything it's that history has taught us nothing. Or at least, we haven't learned from the previous mistakes. If the human race ever grows up, we might just stand a chance.
Lovely picture John.

I hope that the current adventure with the virus will make many people to see the rest of the world without blinders.
Great expression to this wonderful portrait work, John!

We had a great community event today and it made me think more about the sacrifice my parents made to get me to where I am now...I even experienced a German exchange programme in the 1960s...my parents didn't bat an eyelid when my German counterpart clicked his heels and bowed every time he met them...

Coronavirus has nothing on that generation

Super 'comely' model 😁
