ZenTony's post yesterday reminded me of the past, and in particular of a Big Issue seller I knew and saw regularly for a couple of years in Coventry.

He was small, Scottish, and both younger and shorter than me: always cheerful, always 'adding value' to his sales with a smile and a few cheerful words. And his vending cry - 'Scooby Scooby Doo! Come and buy your Big Issue!'

I wonder where and how he is... Maybe, whether?

Today's blog is a suggestion for a five-minute still life session - if you haven't got any dying roses, how about a few snowdrops: or even some dead twigs?

Iím not a still life photographer but may have to resort to trying it the next few months as I go in for a full knee replacement on Saturday.

Lovely to have this image as a reminder, John though rather sad to think what has become of him.
Big Issue seller's do tend to be quite cheerful souls, earning their £1-50 per sale.

Food for thought as I wonder how one particular B.I. seller and his dog in Truro are getting on,

I used to see the sellers on our street, but not now, has the virus put paid to them? Is it still being printed? Yet another casualty?

During lockdown, there have been big efforts by councils to house everyone, even if it is temporary. I think our local Metro Inn has been filled with the people who would otherwise, by one or another definition be homeless.

I suspect that the Big Issue has been less in evidence, at the least. And i hope and pray that what could be done in a health crisis can become more permanent.

A hard thing to sell so many vendors around , so a bit of colour and fun will help with sales.

Seems a character with spirit which may well help him win through. No one should be allowed to be homeless, it should be the first rule of a civilized society.Smile
