This is a shot through the racquet held by the statue of Dorothy Round in Dudley Park, shot last summer with an infrared-converted camera. My daughter took great delight in showing me the statue, because she knew that it would remind me of my mother, who was a keen tennis player all her life (she played with friends four or five days before she died at the age of 82).
Miss Round was Wimbledon Ladies' Champion in 1934 and 1937, and was born in Dudley in 1909.
