Uncle-in-law

By dudler
My wife's Uncle Wilf is well into his Eighties, but the twinkle in his eye says he's still got an acute understanding of the importance of silliness.

I should have asked if he remembered any photographers using flash powder - I'm not sure quite when it finally faded from existence... That's a link to today's BLOG.

He warned me not to explain how my camera worked: I therefore didn't regale him with tales of the demons inside with their brushes and large supply of pink paint. (Small prize for the first person to explain this VERY silly Sunday remark...)

Made me think of Howard in LOTSW...

I have no idea what your Silly Sunday riddle is...

I always thought Flash powder was for household cleaning! Shows my ignorance. You've captured his sense of fun.

Could the knitter not manage to do hearts?
The diamonds should be on the soles of his shoes.

Nice portrait, John, great expression, he looks full of potential silliness.
Your riddle about demons and pink paint - sounds like Terry Pratchett's Discworld, but I don't know which book.

He looks likes a person of a million stories that you could listen to all day. Great image that captures that look that says one day I will grow up...

thankfully he looks like being fully in his good senses

You're right, James.

I had to check the book - it's The Colour of Magic, and it is said in relation to tourist Twoflower's excessive use of his iconograph at the Whore Pits in Ankh Morpork... As Ankh Morpork is, broadly, Victorian London, I assume that's sort of Whitechapel...

This sounds terribly unsuitable - but I will encourage anyone not familiar with Pratchett's work to read a story or two. There are many laughs to be had, and many wry observations and asides. Just don't mention the Seamstress's Guild to the Vicar.

He has Robert De Niro's eyes and mouth. And you know he's a character. I think Uncle Wilf would be the life of the party.

He looks a happy soul and it shows how good the photographer was at his craft, in capturing his endearing expression. Well done, John

Not to mention the 'prints of darkness'.
Read all of Terry Pratchetts books, they're all marvelous SmileSmile.
