If I'd heard the news yesterday before I uploaded, I'd have looked this out and posted yesterday - for Leonard, and for Film Friday.

Taken in 1976, in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. I've scanned from the neg this morning: I'm amazed to find it's FP4. 125 BS/ASA, in a concert venue!

I'm tempted to think that such a clever, witty and civilised man would like to see his own death as a sort of political protest...

Rest in peace.

There's a blaze of light
In every word
It doesn't matter which you heard
The holy or the broken Hallelujah.

A sad loss, 2016 strikes again.

Dave.

Yes, very sad. Super tribute image. Dark and grainy somehow suits.

Deserting a sinking Ship John, clever indeed.
Love the last line of your write up.

The UA is partly from admiration of a fine image, and partly from furious envy... He was the soundtrack of my student years, Suzanne played on a near-continuous loop. I cannot really imagine my memories without him.
Yes, it occurred to me that his death could be seen as a final expression of disgust with what the USA can throw at the rest of the world, Canadians tend to think like that.

I'll quote from The Rose and The Swan...

The dreamers ride against the men of action...
Ahhh, see the men of action falling back.

FP4? Impressed.
Another 2016 loss. I saw him with my son in 2013. He knew little of LC's music but still talks about is as one of the great gigs.
