I like the composition which makes great use of the angularity of both subject and perch but I feel that it has been over sharpened as there are some yucky artifacts around the image.
It is a shame you are not an e2 member as you could then upload a much larger version which I feel sure would do it justice (still going to give it a click though!)
edit I have just been to your website and you have some fab pics on there including a larger version of this one which reproduces much better.

Cheers Barrie for your comment. I do agree that i have oversharpened it but full size it looks awesome. I always feel that at this size it looks unsharp so tend to add that tiny bit more when putting it here. Is there anything you could suggest to overcome oversharpening? Thanks for your comments. Much appreciated. Ian

I am probably the last person to ask for advice about sharpening for the web as I always seem to have problems with it myself and images with areas of high contrast always show up the problem more.
I personally use the Nic Sharpening product but this is very expensive but whatever you use, I would recommend always using the Photoshop facility of 'Save for Web' and then within this, the option to save to an optimum file size as this does help to remove some of the issues associated with compressing a file for web display.
I would also recommend (if you can afford it!) joining e2 (29 I believe) as you can then upload at a much larger file size which makes a tremendous difference. You really do have some great photos on your website so it would be great to see them displayed larger here!

Fantastic image Ian. You can see the potential of detail even at this res.Yup, agree with the others about e2. Just joined myself about 20 mins ago. There was a posting today that didn't look anything special until I viewed the larger image. It was awesome and avoided the oversharpening that we perhaps all tend to do with these tiny res images we submit. Would love to see the larger image of this.Get your wallet out!! One of the best pics I've seen of this bird. well done. Double-hard click!
