We had planned to join a tour of the Olympic site - this was not to be as the District line let us down and we arrived after the tour had departed.
The route to the Olympic park from the Bromley By Bow tube station was poorly marked but we navigated our way across the highway and started walking hopefully in the direction of the Olympic Park. Louis, my spouse, heeded the keep calm sign
We arrived in the Stratford High Street and saw the Ikea tower (a wooden lattice work sculpture in the form of the Olympic torch) in the distance
A minor detour down a side street revealed a view of the Anish Kapoor tower/sculpture and we knew we were heading in the right direction.
Roads were closed and all seemed to be giant construction site but we continued regardless
We arrived at a large area between the Stratford centre and the Stratford Station and headed up the stairs to the bridge that would take us to the Westfield shopping centre.
Crossing the bridge revealed distant views of the Olympic Park
A BT Artbox is situated at the Westfield end of the bridge - 'The Golden Wiggle Pagoda' by Zandra Rhodes
The Westfield centre is adorned with flags and Reminders that the Olympics are imminent.
Tourists pose with Mandeville, the Olympic mascot.

We recrossed the bridge and headed to Stratford station
The station is prepared for the huge crowds that will flock to the area during the 2012 Olympic Games
A short journey on the Jubilee line brought us to the North Greenwich area where we caught a glimpse of the new Emirates Cable Way (due to open the next day - 28th June)
