Scott (Snake)

By ellavr
Black headed python.

This is another picture of the black headed python, seeing as not many people liked the last one I thought I would have another go at it. :o)

This is Scott - he is reared in captivity and as a python is of course not poisonous! He is about 1.5 - 2 m long.

My brother (a snake wrangler!) took him to show to a class of preschool children in order to demonstrate some snake skills to them - these are important skills to have in Far NOrth Queensland, Australia! He then took him to the lake so that I could take these pictures of him.

I think he is very beautiful and if you want to look at my new portrait picture you will see some more of him!!

Thanks for looking and any critism or hints are very welcome!

Thanks Hermin for your comment. I dont know what it is about the focus either, it may be the shiny black head that somehow looks not right. All I have done to the picture is curves and crop, no blurring or anything!

Beautiful snake although these reptiles always produce some respect on me. Good shot with a great DOF. I clearly see half of the snakes body clearly on focus. Sometimes this semi diamond pattern that the snake has on the skin produce a moir effect on the screens and it may be what Hermin saw. Love that grass, it was the kind that we had at home in Colombia. It can really take a beating although it is not very soft on the skin.

Great shot of this lovely creature.
I love the silky feel of their skins, (as long as they are not poisonous, of course!).
Best wishes,
George.

Thank you everyone.

Antonio - thanks for your comment, that grass is everywhere in the tropics of Australia - as you say, can take everything but not very soft!!

Denka - I had never seen it before either, it is very beautiful to see, the black head is just so very black!

Thank you Eric, I took loads of shots - lots of them very bad, so was very lucky with this one!

George - thanks very much, he felt very nice, I dont think I would touch a poisonous one though!

Mike - thanks and love!

And thanks to all you who clicked and didn't comment!

Lovely shot of S-s-s-s-scott! Smile

DOF works well for me tho' wonder if the contrast is a touch high leading to Hermin's comment?
