Kon-Tiki Morning

By EllieEdge
On the way to work yesterday morning I stopped by the museums area for a few snapshots.
Since Kon-Tiki is believed to be an old name for the inca sun god Viracocha I figured it could be a suitable name for the picture. There is some slush floating in the water, after a cold night.

Used the AEB function on the camera (0,-2,+2), and merged the three shots into HDR in Photomatix.

I used ISO 200 by accident, which may have made it possible to capture the wave in the picture. But I am working on this theory that high ISO's makes the sea look strange. (Not to mention that HDR and moving water is not really a good idea at all...)

Lovely warm colours and I love the detail and shadows in the foreground rocks. Some HRD images can look over-done IMO, but you have done a great job here in creating an image that looks completely natural... and I for one would not have known if you hadn't mentioned it.

Overall... a super image that has been well captured and presented. Smile

Quote:Lovely. I am wondering whether this might also work well without HDR, an I am not sure the green area in front adds much value. Perhaps it steals attention and could just as well have been black. But just a thought!

Hi Eli

I always use HDR format as this stops me having to use Filters which crop my lens capability.

You are into HDR yourself and you have some fantastic photos. I am impressed with same.

A classic, why not try other ISO's, noise is grain to me.

As mentioned the ISO was an accident... :-( That is why not.
