Lovely composition and colours - I like the way he's kicking the water up.

Thanks for the comment, K. You're right, I cropped it a lot 'cos I wanted to isolate the face. I'm going to organise a proper session to try to photograph him but he's not a very obliging model.

Grotesque but very effective. it looks to me as if someone's deliberately arranged it in this position. I don't think any animal would have skinned it and stripped the meat off so neatly. The purple was a good idea but I think it would have been even more striking if you'd made the background a solid colour so the grass didn't show through.

Thanks, all. We must have walked past your house, Ali. I live near Oxford but my Mum lives in Deal so I visit quite often.

  • Deal Pier

Thanks, Phil. Funnily enough, I hadn't noticed that but now you've pointed it out I can see that it does look as if the houses are on the pier. It just shows that, no matter how hard you try to look at something objectively, what you remember always intrudes.

You should have visited my friend's Mum's shop: Lydia of Ascot. She always treated the customers well during Ascot week. She's closed down now having decided that at the age of 77 she was entitled to retire.
I agree it could be sharper but it's a miracle it came out at all as that wasn't my first glass of champagne that day!
