to my `simple' eye...there is a little vignetting bottom left, find y eye drawn top left and the bars a little distracting.....other than that I like the `style' of the image, but how to make it stand out? I haven't got the software but perhaps a little D to the figure (feels a mite flat?).

Hello, Emma. It's interesting what you have to say. You obviously enjoy photographing people and are comfortable in that zone, but it's good to venture outside of it and broaden your horizons. I cannot agree that this image is not interesting and does not stand out. I like it better than the previous one simply because you put the railings on the diagonal with a bit of perspective whereas the other one is what I would call "a straight shot". I think you have placed the silhouette well and he looks like he's going to dance all the way along the railings. Please excuse my ignoance, I assume these are figures/sculptures on Redcar seafront. I think mono could be a good way to go with this, but your railings would need to be stronger. At the moment, the light has taken some detail away from the top rails, and you can see the disjointed outline in the mod that has been done. So a different time of day would have been best, so that the light is not so strong, and maybe a lower pov so that the figure and railings are strongly silhouetted against the sky. But I also think that if there were more depth in the sky tones (if you are going to have a coloured version), then the other mod really does the job. If you had moved more to the right (assuming these figures are not flat), and used the railings for more perspective, I think there is a good shot to be had. I feel there is a little too much foreground and sky, so a crop would give more impact as a starting point. Because I like the mods already uploaded, I decided to have a different play with the image. In my modification, I rotated the image clockwise to give an even stronger diagonal, cropped and added a golden hue, like a sunset, then put in a bit of blue sky where yours was a bit burnt out (white). I smudged the silhouette outline a bit when softening the sky, sorry. Is it Fred Astaire?
