One to show the grandkids

By EmmaStu
Taken on Croyde Bay, Devon. This is the fourth in my series of Croyde Bay. As I live in Leeds we are 1.15 hours journey from the coast so I was so pleased to be visiting the coastline in Devon and enjoying its beauty.

This photo was taken late afternoon in October. These two ladies had carried their table and chairs the half mile to the sea edge to be right close to the surf. They look like they were having a picnic. Also they had two dogs they were throwing the ball to.

I captured this as one lady was taking a photo of the other, the caption could have read ‘wish you were here!’ and been sent to the grandkids! Some might think this is the worst thing to do on holiday (ie sit in the cold with sea spray blowing in October) but anyone else like myself might ask ‘why didn’t I think of it first!’

Critiques Welcome. Didn’t opt for B&W this time as thought the natural colour brought warmth to the picture.

The sillhouettes make it work beautifully. It's a super idea, and you're right about the touch of colour.
I hope you don't mind me saying that the horizon isn't straight.

Maybe it's not for the grandkids ... maybe we'll see it posted here tomorrow with you and your camera in the background! Lovely shot, Emma!

Fine candid photography and once again the silhouettes are excellent - good write up too
