Did you get my best side?

At the Bird Market in Hong Kong they put the birds they are selling in little cages and stack them up like high-rise flats.

that's really interesting! nice composition. talk about rule of thirds. is it quite sharp?

can't really see through the bars that well, but it's still a nice abstract.

Doesn't look sharp to me either. Interesting shot tho - do you have an even wider view of them? Poor birds tho, winged animals are not meant to be caged. :-(

Thanks for looking Lucie and Lauren. The original picture does look sharper than this - I'm not sure why it doesn't look sharp when I loaded it - especially as it is digital. Oh well, one of life's little mysteries I guess! I do have a few pictures, I just chose this one so that you could see a few birds close-up.

It is quite sad to see these birds in such small cages, but I can assure you that they are incredibly well looked after.

Like this, may not be sharp, but it gives a feeling of sadness for the wee birds.

Do you apply UnSharp Mask to your photos before you upload them? If not then try it. Apply it at 0 threshold at about 80-85% and see if it makes a difference to the upload quality. Resizing images always affects their apparent sharpness so it may help.

I'm not sure about the sharpness issue but this shot does show the plight of the birds. Nice capture.

Thanks Stewart. I'm rather naughty - I still haven't had those picture developed - time and money playing a big part!!! Missed you at the last meet - hopefully we can arrange another one at some point.
