You needed to focus further back in the frame and use a much smaller aperture for increased depth of field. Did you hand hold? This needed to be from a tripod to get more sharp and with better lighting.

I'm afraid the end product does not make me interested in eating the subject and that should be the aim I would think/

Its always fun to try something different. Food photography is in its own category completely, and in the real world, a food stylist often works with a photographer; at times, the food is even painted to appear a more attractive colour, or some form of shine is applied.

But this is a one person effort. All Paul has mentioned about your aperture being too wide is right on, - you usually (though not always) want most if not all of the food in focus; the lighting has to be brighter; the colour more vibrant; and dont leave a vacant spot right in the centre of the display. But Im sure this did taste great anyway!


Ive loaded a mod as an example.
