'It's a New Dawn, It's A New Day' by Valerie Mullally

By Ericsamson
The last - for now at least - of the images from the Festival of Quilts. The lead shows a detailed section from the piece 'It's a new Dawn, It's a New Day' by Valerie Mullally. Version 1 shows the entire work and the other versions are all details from various parts of a very large quilt. Once again a photograph hardly does justice to the vibrancy and complexity of these astonishing pieces but it's worth having a go and sharing the results. Certainly I've never seen anything like these in my life and the range of creative imagination has to be seen to be believed. I hesitate to pick a favourite but this is one that we were particularly taken with. When seen at first hand the title makes perfect sense; I found myself gazing at it with Nina Simone's spine tingling rendition of the song belting out in my imagination accompanied by that gloriously seductive, driving brass section. If you're going to have an 'ear worm' - have a good one!!! Smile

I am enormously gratified by the interest shown in these images and, as always, for the views, votes and comments. Thanks also to Tooma for his much valued UA and to Joline for her expressions of appreciation.

Sorry to be posting this before catching up with others but will get around to it before the curfew tolls the knell of parting day. Blush SmileSmileSmile

A beauty to end with Graham. My Peruvian friends might see a little Inca or Aztec influence here.

Quite a fitting climax to your collection of quilts, which had some superb offerings. I cannot make my mind between the lead image and V2 in this selection.
I quite agree with you both with your ear worm and this Fabulous Quilt.

Another very nicely photographed collection Graham. Wonderful skill and
lots of dedication in the making of these amazing quilts.
Thanks for the worms, I'll dislodge them later with a blast of Black Sabbath
but they are quite enjoyable at the moment SmileSmile
