Postcards to Leo

By Ericsamson
More quilts - hope thatís ok! I donít think Iíve done a series before (at least not consciously) but I think Iíll roll with this for a few more uploads. These very fine and striking quilts are from the Russian Gallery at the Festival of Quilts.

For the lead, and given that itís Silly Sunday, Iíve gone for a cropped image of a couple of jesters (Version 1 shows the full quilt.) Version 2 is called ĎThe Drunken Kingí; Version 3 is ĎThe Queen and the Jesterí. Unfortunately I didnít record the titles of the other two.

The quilter is Tatiana Sinitsyna, a graduate of the Moscow Institute of Architecture and, if I have understood correctly, quilting is her hobby. Her work is hugely impressive; the photographs scarcely do them justice.

Many thanks for views, votes and very kind comments on the previous uploads and to Colleen, Britchie, Mac, TrevBat and Joline for their much appreciated UAís.

All the best for today and for the week ahead. Graham.

What work must have gone into producing them. The lead image I prefer, it reminds me of a Toulouse-Lautrec painting or a Venetian masked ball. Great colours captured.

Excellent set young Graham. Some very fine needlework here, very nicely photographed.
I suppose it's a fair assumption that the jolly jester is spinning a yarn and the gloomy chap's
just a little down in the mouth Smile (second time i've used that one this week, tut tut.)
Thanks for your previous comment SmileSmileSmile most entertaining.

My mum used to do this sort of thing. She said it was her way of relaxing at the end of the day after running round after a husband and four boys all day...

A fine colourful collection, our kid. Imagine my surprise at seeing the powerful Servalan from the Terran Federation, (federations seemed to have been a popular running theme in the sci-fi genre) or is it Freddie Mercury's sister(V4)- and, how about those manspreading regal looking ladies - well, I mean. I think there may some interesting stories about the inspiration behind some of those quilts. Smile
