I have no experience taking portraits, so difficult to `comment'...has a slight softness, but that may be what you were after...just been reading an article about street `portrait' photography where f/4 at 50mmm was his staple setting...I must widen my horizons SmileSmile

Thanks for your comment Jeff, I'm new to portraits as well hence using the wife to experiment with as I felt I needed to broaden my horizons. I've a 50mm which I've used at about f/2.8 and that produces some really nice images with a nicely blurred background. Did try street photography once, great if you like blur!! Wink

Nice work lovely texture in the skin maybe highlights bordering been burnt out on this monitor anyway, great ideal really going close in to the face.
