    Mick,

Very nicely done. In answer to to your question - snowed under with work. All the photography I've been doing is very much related to work. Hopefully for not to much longer.

I did get back to UK over Easter and went to Cambridge - I've got some shots that I'm working on and may upload one or two - soon.

I'm planning on taking a month out, to go to Australia in the near future.

    Best wishes

    Ern

  • Sigma on Pentax Sigma 10-20mm 10-20 f/4-5.6

I just got one and took it to Leeds for the weekend so I was able to take a look at it. It put in on my ist Ds and all I can say is wow! Not only is the quality superb ...

  • Which Pentax?

The *ist DL is a cheaper alternative to the *istDS because it uses a pentamirror (similar to 350D or D70) rather than a pentaprism (which produces a clearer image on the ...

  • Posted on: Interview With Pentax UK General Manager

An interesting interview and I really hope Jonathan feeds back to HQ about what he was asked and told. The one point of continuing hope that I picked up from his responses was "and an extremely loyal Pentax fanbase that we are interested in re-connecting with." If this is so then give us products that compete with the Nikon D3s or Canon EOS 5D Mk11. While I'd love to buy a 645D it is just way beyond my budget for now or in the foreseeable future. It cannot be beyond the competence of the technical engineers to produce a DSLR that does this!!! But hurry up.

  • Posted on: Pentax To Be Sold to Ricoh - UPDATE

I don't know what to make of this. I've stuck with Pentax through some depressing situations over the past few years. I thought they had turned the corner when taken into Hoya and then the 645 coming out. I cannot "read between the lines" on this statement and I'm going to have to consult a friend who is more clued up on the meaning of this (I wish I'd done Semiotics 101!) and more importantly the "Japanese meaning of it"! If I can glean anything further, I'll make a post.

I cannot understand what is holding Pentax back - how long are we going to have to wait for this beauty? I'd have really preferred a full frame but as a Pentax diehard I'm quite happy to move up to 645 if they match the current exchange rate translation price. But hurry up!!

  • Posted on: 2010 release date for 645D medium format camera

Is this real or is it just another PR puff? This ones been played several times and nothing has come of it - so far. Of course, I too would like to be wrong. What I would like to see is a full frame DSLR. The new K7's about the right size to fit the sensor and electronics. All the other main players are there - so why not Pentax and I guess the real answer to this is money or more importantly lack of it.

  • Posted on: Photographer sues New York City for $1 million

As a railway photographer myself, I really hope he wins his case. Whilst I haven't been stopped by the police, I was stopped by an unkowledgable member of railway staff not long ago. Fortunately, I had a copy of a railway magazine where the issue was being aired with statements from Network Rail and ATOC. I showed this to the "jobsworth", because that is all they are, and politely told them them to go and check out the truth of the statements with their supervisor. They didn't return and I carried on my photography. However, the issue remains a problem and isn't unfortunately on the political radar.

I am pretty certain this will be priced to gain a mass market share. I think we are starting to see the same thing that happened in the PC markets a few years back.
