He is great and you did really well to get close enough to get the pic. It looks as if your camera may have applied quite a lot of sharpening when it created the jpeg, though, as the image looks almost posterised. If you can reduce in-camera sharpening, or even better take raw files, you might find working with your files after shooting will give better results?

good shot try shooting in raw as sue suggests i did ,i was scared stiff at first but it was best thing i done ,dave

Thanks for all the feedback and great advice. I downloaded an editing software called Gimp earlier in the week and have just found the 'Clone' tool after seeing the modification that Alan very kindly uploaded. What a site and thanks again all. Dean
