The façade of this building was designed by architect Lole, being inspired by Florence museum building. The mansion, which was built as three floors by placing on land slope, covers an area of 2040 m2. It is located on the main street of old Mardin. The house was completed in three stages parallel with the growing of Çerme family. Under the part of the façade seen here there are several shops.
The houses of Mardin are carefully arranged in tiers on the mountain slope so that the roof of each house serves as the terrace of the one above. The streets are connected via a network of passages known as abbara that sometimes pass directly under the houses. The abbara provide shelter from the hot sun in summer and from cold weather and rain in winter.
