Hi. I'm new to photography and love it. I haven't quite got a style as such or preference in what I capture, please feel free to critique and comment as it helps my understanding.

Thank you for taking the time to look at my photographs.

  • Solar vs Wind Power

Thank you for the critique WRIT, it is appreciated. I have one without the birds but I prefer this one. I actually shot this with some additional turbines on the left and cropped it, as it just looked better to me. I don't have the software yet to play with the pictures, that's next on my shopping list. I'll add the variations.

    Thanks again.

Thanks Dudler for the comments. I was just on a day out with my son who has just finished Uni and two others who I hope gained some inspiration from the visit to want to go there.

It definitely inspired me to make a return trip one day prepared with the likes of my tripod and lenses, rather than as the tourist happy snapper.

Thanks again, I'll take a look at the web page.

Nice image. Knowing Shetland, it probably snowed an hour later. I'll look out for your winter shots Wink

A really great image, so vivid I feel like I should take my hay fever tablet from looking at it. Wink

  • Thomas and the Mock Ups , Live at Forever Sun Festival .

    I like V1 & V4.
V1 has good energy, tones and sharpness, V4 has more character with the two interacting. The points of colour such as the orange amp/speaker and green bottle do enough to break up and add to the image for me. A nice real life picture.

    Good shots.

A nice insight and journalistic piece. Your photo gives a nice flavour of it. Thanks

Quote:Like the idea, - nice shot, - a little contrast and a warmer tone can improve this as in the mod.

Thank you, that's much nicer and of a better qualty.

  • If it's officially approved...

A good collection piece. Looks like a selection of different artist levels also, giving them scope to practice, although the breeze block walls aren't the best texture for it.

You're probably right in that the street artists are just being pandered to. If it was Banksy's then they may have given it more prominence.

  • Ess Na Crub waterfall & Leaf

I don't normally like this water effect, however the perspective is excellent and the ethereal feel created works for me.

  • The Weir

I like it because it's different and the unusual perspective makes me look at it.

A nice head shot, the background is fine. Great location to visit - at the right time of course Wink

  • Read all about it.

    I really like this image.

There are different thoughts provoked by looking at it though.

My first is the sharpness and how the tones and colours all compliment each other the stone, railing and door, then the outfits.
The next is how her lipstick stands out and the pursed lips with attitude looking at the camera, great character.

My personal grieveance is with the male, who doesn't seem to fit in. As the female looks like a piece from another era, he doesn't with his clothing and haircut. I would prefer a shot of just her as she is engaging you and not him. Although it could be viewed as you are getting the way of a conversation.

Overall I really like it. Nice work.

  • Out of the Sun - Spitfire

Quote:I didn't think much of the photo, Until I read your words. I am now 71 years old and remember the Luffwaffe Bombers flying over our house in Loughborough in 1943. They were on their way to bomb Coventry.
Now, your picture is great. Pete Howe

Ditto Pete. It was one of only two pictures I'd snapped of a Spitfire that I could associate to Rememerance Day Pete, unfortunately I know it's not a great picture. I also wanted to show a representation of the RAF. The events of Coventry were shocking and devastating. Thank you for looking, commenting and caring.

  • Warm colours - cold memories

The Military Wing at The Queen Elizabeth hospital is phenomenal, not just for the great facilities but for the people who are there. The staff are superb and the attitude of those attending is humbling.
They always welcome a visit and pizza Smile

SSAFA help support the families visiting their sons, daughters, parents (casualties) with a welfare home, counsellors and other facilities, they appreciate donations.

Grin Grin Brilliant! Looks a bit like Predator emerging from that mud. Great capture, wish I could get such a decent action shot with my Cocker Spaniel, gotta keep practicing.

Great sharpness and clarity with all that movement and energy. I just hope she didn't jump up into your arms after this.

Hello Nathan, missed this as I was away on a course up at Leconfield. Hope things are improving on the home front.

I like the simplicity of this picture, with the textures, lines, focussing, angle and other stuff I don't yet fully understand but appreciate Wink
