He stands out well against the dark BG and it's a nice comp, however it would help if you were to state what shutter speed/aperture used and ISO etc to make a fair comment here Valerie. As it is, it looks slightly wooly and would stand a little more sharpening but that alone doesen't quite produce detail all over. It could be it needed a larger dof but without the additional camera information it's difficult to pin point the problem, hope this may help.
