Kinder Winter Light

By Falconer
This was taken one day last week when I did a trek up Kinder Scout. It is the scariest walk I have ever done, more than when I went to Everest Base Camp. All paths were burried under snow, I had to rely on my map, landmarks and remembering past visits. At times I went up to my waist in snow and a few times up to my neck. Sometimes I had to go on all fours to distribute me weight so I did not sink.

To get down from Crowden Tower the best way was to slide on my arse down the slope.

I did pull muscles in both legs and get a bad sore on my right ankle which is just healing. I wont be going up there in deep snow again but hopefully I have some good pictures.

It was a good job I was well wrapped up as the wind chill was very cold in the strong wind and also taking food and drink up there was very important too.

It deserves a click just for the pain you went through to get this image, but it is a great image too. Well captured.

A well one shot - it was worth the pain in my opinion. Blimey, Kinder scarier that EBC -just shows you don't need to leave home to get the thrills.

The lighting is beautiful, particularly on the foreground snow formations. This photograph deserves more attention.

Amazing difference a few days make. I was on Rushup Edge on tuesday, though most of the snow had gone, some of the remaining drifts were still over three feet deep!! Sounds like a fun day you had Smile
