Oil Boy

By Falconer
A young apprentice is caught in a beam of light in the smoke filled Barrow Hill Roundhouse.

He is holding an oil can ready to oil the steam locomotives. He is the next generation of engine drivers to keep the age of steam going.

very good, allthough to me it evoques a connotation with religion rather than trains

Its a lovely bit of backlighting Robert...yes it could be an alter boy with one of those incense things, LOL. Have a good Christmas and all the best for 2007.

This is an incredibly well done image. Devotion to trains is nearly a religion, coming from a long line of trainmen myself. Unfortunately it is all but gone in my area, and only the memories remain. This shot evokes those.

I would agree, i know many people who have steam running through their veins and devote thei whole life to steam trains just like people do to football teams and other interests.

Excllent, From a class photographer. I have seen a lot of your pictures in the Steam Railway mag. As someone relatively new to steam photography your work is to be emulated. Alan.
