Grasshopper

By FeatherFriend
A Grasshopper is an amazing insect that can leap 20 times the length of its own body. If you or I could do that, we would be able to jump almost 40 yards!
A Grasshopper does not actually 'jump'. What they do is use their legs as a catapult. They can both jump and fly and they can reach a speed of 8 miles per hour when flying.
The first three or four I tried to photograph just jumped (as they do) before I even got the lens anywhere near, however this one decided to play ball for a few moments but my knees and elbows ended up in a state from the thorns. I believe there are roughly 18,000 different species so I'm not sure which one this is.
I would add that he BG has been tided up a little to remove distractions from the subject.
Many thanks for the comments on the previous shot and a special thank you to DerekL, Ron (Maiwand), ade123, Herge88 and Yung (dmhuynh72 for the UA's, really appreciated,
Geoff.

This macro lark has it's downsides, besides the prickles and scratches, I've got fly bites on both arms from over 3 weeks ago.WinkWinkWink
