M/Barn Swallow

By FeatherFriend
"The Barn Swallow avoids heavily wooded or precipitous areas and densely built-up locations and likes open structures such as barns, stables, or culverts to provide nesting sites, and exposed locations such as wires, roof ridges or bare branches for perching, are also important in the bird's selection of its breeding range." (courtesy of wikipedia).
No wonder then that I couldn't get a shot of one in a tree, in fact I searched the web and most of the pictures show this little guy perched on a wire. Because of the length of the bird, head to tail, this image is as large as the site allows. Hope you view large to see more detail.
Many thanks to you all for your votes and comments on my 'Woodpecker', and also a special thank you to johnjrp and Robin 1' for their User Awards, it did far better than I could have wished for, and I appreciate it so much.

Thanks for that Geoff. Now I won't feel so bad about doing the same! I'm always seeing swallows perched on cables at the bottom of my garden. Mind you, it will be difficult to get one looking quite so regal as this.

The clean blue B/G is the sky, I don't claim any credit for that, wish I could.
