Nuthatch/Juvenile

By FeatherFriend
This is a shot of a young Nuthatch, not fully matured, who looks as though he will be a fine specimen when he's fully grown. I am quite pleased with the detail in this one and wish I could get this result every time. I'm pretty sure he knew I was taking the shot judging by the expression in the eye, (I think he's saying "this better be good" lol.)
Version 2 is a shot of a mature one taken in April this year to show what he'll look like in a few weeks time.
May I thank you all for your votes and comments on my M/Barn Swallow, I am very grateful for your continued support. Hope you all have a good weekend.
Regards,
Geoff.

Lovely feather detail, I think I'd tone down the bright leaves bottom left just a tad as they are catching my eye a bit.
You'll love the variety of birds in Scotland. I don't know enough about them to identify many of them but we were entranced even through the cottage window when I couldn't put my nose outside the door for fear of midge attack.

Thank you all for your votes and comments, much appreciated. Re the leaf, I like to present images as natural as possible, and this shot is straight out of the camera apart from a small crop and not 'set up' in any way. I could have cloned the leaf out quite easily, but from my short experience on this site, there are those who prefer less of the cloning and maniplulation. Personally, I think the leaf fills what would otherwise be a dark empty corner bottom left and 'natural'. However, I joined this site to learn, and the views here are noted and appreciated. many thanks.

Excellent shot Geoff; great detail and love the composition with the branch and the spotlight on the bird. I love this dark background; interesting, but not distracting and I'm happy with the leaves at the bottom left - maybe darkening them a bit instead of removing them might keep everyone happy Smile
