Orange Headed ground thrush

By FeatherFriend
Here are two shots of an Orange headed ground thrush which were taken a few weeks ago. Quite an attractive looking bird and I'm pretty sure that this is the male of the species. It's a member of the thrush family and is common in well-wooded areas of India, China and southeast Asia. Most populations are resident. The species shows a preference for shady damp areas, and like many Zoothera thrushes, can be quite secretive.
It is omnivorous, eating a wide range of insects, earthworms and fruit. and nests in trees but does not form flocks.
Many thanks for your votes and lovely comments on my Siskin, I really do appreciate it so much. Have a good weekend, Geoff.

What a beautiful bird. The pose is good. The back view gives a chance to show off his superb plumage and colour but that turn of the head really brings the bird back into the picture. I prefer version !!!. Very fine shot Geoff.
