Red Squirrel

By FeatherFriend
This is my first and probably only Red Squirrel I will have in my PF, as I had to travel 650 miles to Scotland to get it. lol (didn't go just for that though, as it was a 2 week holiday too). Taken at the RSPB Abernethy National Nature Reserve during a brief spell of decent weather. Hope you all like it.
Many thanks to you all for your votes and lovely comments on my Grey Wagtail, your continued support is always appreciated so much.
Regards.
Geoff.

How beautiful - very nice capture indeed - I went to the BWC last Sunday to get some shots of the red squirrel and the Scotish Wild Cat, I was hoping for a Pine Martin as well but no show - knowing how some of us feel about animals in captivity I'm hesitant to upload them...... at least they had plenty of "natural habitat" to roam in and we were impressed with the effort of the staff at BWC. This little guy fortunately lives in natural woodlands which surround the RSPB Nature Reserve, he's free to roam as he pleases I'm glad to say, however, I have no issues with shots of wildlife taken in captivity, after all, most of the wildlife wouldn't still be around for us all to see if it wasn't for places like the BWC. Go on, upload your shots and share your images with us, most of us would be delighted to see them.

Geoff.

We only have Red Squirrels here on the Island of jersey and like this one, with it's almost white tail,it's amazing how they vary in colour.I have seen some almost black ones and others that are the same colour as this ones tail....Strange!

Excellent capture of my favourite British mamal Smile

I have been to Liverpool and Brownsea Island to see these in the past where they are quite common (though I hear the ones in Liverpool aren't doing so well at the moment) and approachable.

Did you see them much in Scotland? It's on my to-do list for so many wildlife reasons!

Many thanks for your comment John, must say I only saw them outside the RSPB centre as described in my info. As it rained most of the time I was there, I didn't get much chance to find them anywhere else.
