Country Lane

This country lane in south Cambridgeshire is one of my favourite places for walking the dog. It is only a few hundred yards long and is surrounded by the monotony of endless, flat, intensively farmed fields that are such a feature of this part of East Anglia. But for the ten minutes or so it takes to walk, I can believe I am in a more beautiful and gentler part of the country, away from what is essentially an industrial landscape; there may not be mills and factories but modern agriculture is unremittingly industrial.

This shot is looking back the other way. Between the two images you can see well over half of the lane.

This photo was taken in a field at the end of the lane. Until recently, I thought of spring in terms of flowers - primroses, cherries, hawthorn etc - but recently I have begun to appreciate the different, often vivid, shades of green that are about at this time of year. The foliage of the oak trees on this walk, and particularly this tree, was quite spectacular as it caught the sun.

It is a pretty walk, and just right for a dog too. Smile
