Rose Sainte Marie

By firstlight
Salcombe Gin 'Rose Sainte Marie' (with fake condensation)

The unusual wrap around label and glass indents on this bottle make it far from ideal to shoot in this direct manner, but I thought I'd play around a little.

3 light set up - rear bare bulb with gel to match the gin branding, L & R strip soft boxes.

Hi. Pleasant presentation, lighting, colours. I think you have set your camera quite high opposite of the bottle (at the bottle neck) so it seems that we are looking down at the bottle. I would have lowered the camera opposite of the brand sleeve instead. I realise it would create a smaller reflection on the "table" though, which I don't find as a bad thing..

Thank you for taking the time to comment. You're correct on the high angle chosen (there are actually ways of lowering the relative position to the bottle - looking slightly 'up' - whilst keeping the reflection in shot - which is what I would have preferred). The challenge here, however, was the bottle itself with the unusual label and ridges. It's a lovely bottle design, but not for a product shot of this type. As I understand it, brands with the budget for high production values often have a bottle custom made to remove these issues, but this is exactly why I wanted to challenge myself. Smile

Probably two more versions to come in the next week...

...that is if you manage to prevent the content of the bottle from consumption I suppose... Challenging!

On a more serious note I guess it would have looked nice even if it had just the text on the glass duplicated by the reflection... Born of the Sea..

Looking forward to see those other attempts too!
