Cone Head Mantis 2

Another shot of the amazing cone head mantis I found in Provence last spring. I took rather a lot of these but won't bore you with them all!

I think there are different colour forms suited to different plants they hunt on. This one matched the Thyme perfectly it was on, but for this shot I managed to coax him/her into a position where you could see it a bit more clearly!

That is a wonderful model, I have never seen a pink one. Here they are usually gray/brown!

An amazing creature. Makes me wonder what I miss out there in the garden or the woods. Hard to tell heads or tails from these. Excellent capture.

Amazing shot !!.....cracking detail & colours !!

In the previous shot I couldn't work out what was plant & what was critter ?.......this version is clearer, but
it still took me a while to sus-out it's head/legs/tail etc....but all became clear eventually !!....GrinGrin
